It was night time and we were at Sydenham station. Ellie was there and two others. We were waiting for a train, we were going out to hit the town. Then one of the others jumps up and suggests we’re on the wrong platform and instead of using the stairs like a normal person jumps up and runs across the tracks, they make it. I kept looking for the clocks on the station to see if any trains were going to be here soon. The other person jumped up almost straight after the other about to run across the tracks as well but Ellie and I while still seated yell at her to not be an idiot and use the stairs because they’re there for a reason. I try to tell her that the replacement stairs are to the right but she goes to the left and the old stairs aren’t blocked off so she easily climbs the stairs and makes it to the other platform. Our train arrives and the second I’m on the train I realise I had forgotten to buy a ticket but sit down nevertheless hoping that it won’t be a problem. Ellie had picked a seat and spread herself out and I squeezed into the corner wanting to hide. (Note: the train is moving leftwards in my mind) Then I stood up for some reason and I caught a glimpse of a uniform through the window, I thought it was a cop, and they were searching the train. I panic and decide to make my way into the next carriage on my way to the front where hopefully the police won’t find me before I need to get off. So I’m panicking and hiding within the other travellers and I get to what looks like the front of the train and girl says to me, they know you’re here and that you’re travelling with Ellie and they have dogs so there’s no point running. At this point I call Ellie and she wasn’t far so we meet up, I ask her why she said she was travelling with someone and she replies all freaked out that they just knew. At this point we stop at a station, not our intended one but I look at it thinking about making a run for it when a police officer passes the open doors with a sniffer dog. I walk out, dejected, and Ellie and I follow the police officer. He starts questioning us, he asks us what we do for employment. I say I am unemployed and Ellie says what she does. It seems their focus is on me for some reason, they haven’t asked for my ticket so it appears that it has nothing to do with that but I’m not sure what else it could be. He walks us to a cafeteria-like place and tells us to take a seat, he asks if we would like anything I reply no and Ellie gets a drink of some kind. And then the interrogation begins. I ask what his dog’s name is, but I forget the answer. His questions seem simple and we don’t seem to have done anything wrong. He tells us that his father is his captain and that it’s very important that he do well because he’ll be watching. It is like they are wondering what I’m doing with my time, suggesting that my claim I’m doing nothing is a front for criminal activity. Then he states that I went to uni for a week. And I look at him confused. He says doing art and design. Why they know this I have no idea. But I tell him that yes I was doing that course at ACU and drop out after a week but I get angry and tell him I’ve been studying for 2 years at Macquarie since then. He looks like this information changes his mind and he’s not sure what to do. At this point I notice that the dog has had its eyes removed (like my own dog has recently had) and I wonder if it is so that it can smell more strongly. But I never get the chance to ask because I wake and never find what I have done wrong or what they think I’ve done wrong other than forgetting to buy a ticket.
